FAQs
What are the ages?
Club wrestling is PreK-4th Grade. 4th Graders have the option of wrestling down at the club or up at the Jr. High. We do encourage 4th graders to wrestle on the Jr. High team; it’s more affordable since it’s a school sponsored team, it’s more practices, more intense/advanced and they can compete at the state tournament. Jr. High is for 4th-9th graders. 9th graders have the option of wrestling at the high school or for the Jr. High.
What are the dates?
Jr. High season begins September 29th with practices being every day after school until 5:15. Club begins October 6th with practices 3 days a week (days & times vary based on beginner/advanced wrestlers). Jr. High and Club have optional tournaments every weekend (aside from the state tournaments). Calendars will be posted each month with tournaments/practice schedules. Those participating in fall sports can begin once their fall sports end. Folkstyle season ends after Super State February 6th and 7th.
How Do we sign up?
You can reach out to a coach for a sign up sheet or pick one up at practice. Payments for club can be made online. Jr. High payments must be done through Uintah High School or on myschoolfees.com.
What genders can wrestle?
Our program is co-ed. Each program has both boys and girls on the team. Girls do have the option of practicing with female partners, if they prefer.
What equipment is required?
Registration includes a t-shirt and shorts. Singlets and warm ups can be checked out to Jr. High wrestlers. Headgear and mouthguards may be required at National tournaments but are not necessary at most tournaments (we do have some available to check out). Wrestling shoes are required for competitions. We will have a team store for anyone wanting to purchase additional gear.
What options for wrestling are available in the spring/summer?
After the folkstyle/winter season ends in February, there are a couple different options to wrestle:
Tiger League- Tiger League is a 6 week program that is meant to be an introduction to wrestling. Kids who are new to wrestling and are wanting to try it out should give Tiger League a try!
Club Freestyle & Greco- Kids who wrestled on the Jr. High, High School and Folkstyle club teams come together in the spring to wrestle Freestyle and Greco (international styles). The Freestyle/Greco state tournament is typically the end of April, however, we will continue wrestling Freestyle/Greco to prepare for national tournaments throughout the summer.
Beach Wrestling- Towards the end of our spring season we start adding in beach wrestling practices. We will continue to do a combination of beach wrestling and Freestyle/Greco practices through the summer.
International Tour- We take a group of our athletes on one international tour each summer for a training camp. 2024’s tour was to Italy. 2025’s tour was to Japan. 2026’s tour is TBD. Athletes are selected based on participation, performance and work ethic.
